The Police: Live from Buenos Aires
What do Madonna, U2 and The Police all have in common? Well, besides being three of the top grossing pop/rock acts of the last twenty years, all three chose to film live concert events in Buenos Aires. And if you’ve ever seen a concert in BA’s River Plate Stadium, you would understand why. The artists feed off the energy level of the Argentine crowds, while corporate partners like Best Buy love the high production values and marketing potential. The groundbreaking U2 3D captured the band’s Vertigo tour and was released last year in IMAX theaters, while Best Buy scored a Christmas miracle with an exclusive CD/DVD set of The Police Certifiable: Live in Buenos Aires. Later this month, Viacom’s new pay channel, Epix, launches with an exclusive Madonna concert, Sticky & Sweet Live from Buenos Aires. And BA’s concert turnstiles won’t slow down anytime soon: Depeche Mode’s Tour of the Universe hits town this weekend, while The Killers bring Hard Rock’s Ambassadors of Rock Tour to BA in November.
