Audi Argentina Tortugas

With almost 40% market share, Audi has dominated Argentina’s premium auto space for a decade.

From sales records to prototype spy photos, Audi continues to make headlines in Argentina. Coming off a record 2010, the German automaker sold almost 4,000 vehicles in Argentina during the first seven months of 2011. The 21.3% January-July sales increase gave Audi almost 40% market share in the highly competitive premium segment and its tenth consecutive first place finish.

In an interview with PuntoBiz, Conrado Wittstatt, the GM of Audi Argentina credits the Four Ring’s succes in part to “the arrival of new models like the A1, the 2011 edition of the A4 and our expanding dealer network.” The broad mix of models Audi offers in Argentina also allows the company to attract a wide range of buyer profiles, an advantage reflected in the mix of vehicles sold this year: the A4 (21%), the A1 (17%), the A5 (16%), the Q5 (14%), the A3 Sportback (13%) and the A3 (7%).

Adding to the current Audi roster in Argentina, Wittstatt says the company will soon add the A7 Sportback and the recently revamped A6 line. The company is also rolling out three separate versions of the popular A1 line which was unveiled in June at the Salon del Automovil de Buenos Aires.

In other local Audi news, photos surfaced last week on several auto enthusiast sites of a 2012 A3 hatch prototype. The semi-camoflaged machine was spotted on the highway between San Rafael and El Sosneado. (Full Story in Spanish)
