With only two weeks left until the official beginning of Tortugas and the 2011 Triple Crown of Polo, two of the brands synonymous with Argentina high-goal polo have joined forces. Audi, coming off a decade of dominance in the Argentina luxury car market, will sponsor La Dolfina, the odds-on favorite to win this year’s polo Triple Corona of Tortugas, Hurlingham and Palermo.
And just as the 2011 line of Audis feature several upgrades, the 2011 edition of La Dolfina combines a solid foundation (Adolfo Cambiaso and David Stirling) with some new high-tech gadgetry (Ellerstina’s Juan Martin Nero and Pablo MacDonough). Together the 2011 version of La Dolfina sports 39-goals under the hood and enough horsepower to blow the saddles off the opposition.
For their official vehicle of choice, the team opted for a sleek black 333-horsepower Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI which sports both the four rings of Audi and the “LD” of the team with the highest handicap in the world. With Peugeot officially out of the picture, the official team name is La Dolfina Fly Emirates reflecting an important Middle East partnership with the airline that begins Dubai to Buenos Aires daily service on January 3.
On the field, La Dolfina made a statement this weekend defeating Miramar 14-7 in the Jockey Club Galicia Eminent Open on the strength of Cambiaso’s 8 goals. The team, which played without new additions Nero or MacDonough, reached the Finals of the final tune-up before Tortugas. (Full Story in Spanish)
