The world’s largest retailer is rolling out a revolutionary app that might save you a trip to the store.
According to Mercado, Walmart Argentina is launching the first mobile application that lets customers scan the barcodes of any product with their smartphone, check on the price and availability of merchandise at a local Walmart, and schedule home delivery or in-store pick-up.
The free app is the first of its kind in Argentina and contains prices, photos and descriptions of over 10,000 items that can be found at Walmart Supercenters in Argentina and on walmartonline.com.ar. Customers can fill their virtual carts by searching for products on the app or by simply scanning the barcodes of any item in their home, a friend’s home, a restaurant, a competitor’s store…basically anywhere.
Once your cart is filled, your order can be picked up at the store or delivered to your home or office. App users who register at walmartonline.com.ar also have the option of storing personalized shopping lists and accessing details of their previous purchases. The new app’s Google maps show the location of the nearest Walmart, as well as driving and walking directions
The Walmart App can be downloaded at the App Store for iPhone, Google Play for Android, or the BlackBerry App World. While Walmart has Supercenters in several provinces, the app will initially work for customers in Buenos Aires, La Plata, Cordoba and Mendoza. (Full Story in Spanish)
