With competitive fares and daily service, MVD offers a more comfortable arrival experience for travelers to Buenos Aires.

North American travelers flying to the Southern Cone will have another daily non-stop option beginning next week. American Airlines is responding to the growing demand for flights between the United States and Uruguay by expanding daily service between Miami and Montevideo to seven days a week.

Daily Miami to Montevideo non-stops officially begin as a winter promotion on June 14. According to InfoNegocios, the demand for increased flights between South Florida and the Uruguay capital is coming from both the public and private sectors, and the move reflects the growing business, cultural and tourist exchange between the US and Uruguay.

While the added frequency is an obvious advantage for Uruguay-bound travelers from North America, even Buenos Aires-bound passengers should consider the Montevideo route for a variety of reasons. First and foremost is the quality of the arrival experience at Carrasco International (MVD) compared to BA’s Ezeiza (EZE).

Unlike Ezeiza, the Carrasco terminal is immaculate, clearing customs takes minutes instead of hours, the Duty Free Shop looks like a Nordstrom, and lines of Mercedes-Benz taxis are waiting to whisk you away. From Carrasco, it’s only a thirty-minute flight to BA’s Aeroparque (essentially Palermo) or three hours via Buquebus. Or better yet, check-in to a nice hotel in Pocitos or Punta Carretas and have your own Montevideo moment. (Full Story in Spanish)
