KFC Argentina

Ho Ho Homestyle fried chicken, cole slaw, mashed potatoes and gravy comes to BA next month.

A Christmas miracle of sorts for Buenos Aires residents who have been waiting over two years for the arrival of Colonel Sanders, the “Receta Secreta” and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Rumors surfaced back in October 2010 about the possible Argentine return of Pizza Hut, one of Kentucky-based Yum! Brands (NYSE: YUM) global restaurant brands.

If Pizza Hut enjoyed a successful relaunch in BA, there was speculation that KFC, another Yum! icon, would soon follow. Fast forward to today and Pizza Hut is still MIA, but KFC-BA is as good as a 12-piece Original Recipe bucket with cole slaw and mashed potatoes and gravy.

Positive signals were first given in August when KFC Argentina fired up a Twitter account and tweeted three simple words: Proximamente en Argentina! The “Coming Soon” tweet was enough to stir the chicken pot of anticipation.

700 tweets later, the consensus seems to be that the first KFC in Argentina will officially open in January in the Alto Palermo Shopping. Several new KFC billboards in the Bulnes Subte station would suggest that Colonel Sanders will be landing at Coronel Diaz and Santa Fe next month.
