One of the largest chains of upscale hotels in Argentina is adding an established Mendoza property to its portfolio as part of a recently launched nationwide expansion and brand diversification.
Cordoba-based Amerian Hoteles just acquired the 77-room Executive Hotel in Mendoza bringing the company’s total number of Argentina hotels to 15. The newly named Amerian Executive Mendoza Hotel is now a managed franchise property, one of five the company has in development in Argentina under its 4-star namesake flag and 3-star Merit Hotels flag.
Los Andes’ Miguel Angel Flores says “60% of Amreian’s cake is corporate tourism,” so the 4-star Mendoza property was a logical acquisition in a city where the company previously had no footprint.
The company currently operates 14 additional hotel and casino properties with 1,258 beds in destinations like Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Rosario, Chaco, Misiones and Santiago del Estero.
With a Mendoza presence finally established, the company is considering opening or acquiring other properties in the heart of Argentine wine country. The company’s director Juan Cibrian says, “It’s within our strategy, because our plan is to have a Merit and an Amerian in every important city in the country. Mendoza was always a strategic objective for the chain.” (Full Story in Spanish)
