A new shopping center opened its doors this morning in a busy section of Montevideo, and shopaholics had filled the three-story complex by midday.
The Nuevocentro Shopping Montevideo is a 742,000-square foot (69,000 square meter) project in a busy section of the Uruguay capital at the intersection of Luis Alberto de Herrera and Artigas Boulevard. The mall’s developer, Carlos Lecueder, tells El Observador the US$60 million Nuevocentro was six years in the making.
Nuevocentro has three levels of shops, 1,000 underground parking spaces, a Geant hipermercado, a Cartoon Network World for kids opening in November and a five-screen cinema opening in December.
The roster of Nuevocentro shops is very similar to what one can find in the other major Montevideo malls like Punta Carretas, Portones and Montevideo Shopping including Arredo, Daniel Cassin, Rockford, Divino, Farmashop, Indian Emporium, Hering, La Cancha, Mosca, Motociclo, Multiahorro Hogar, Nike, Parisien, Reebok, Sport & Casual, Stadium, Tiendas Montevideo y Toto.
