Among the many new luxury developments unveiled this summer season in Punta del Este, the debut of Brazilian developer JHSF’s first property in Uruguay was one of the most anticipated.
The Hotel Fasano Las Piedras officially opened in December and the grand opening buzz carried over into January during the height of the Summer Season.
Las Piedras is emblematic of the new wave of high-end projects foreign developers are now building on Maldonado and Rocha soil: An 1,180-acre historic estancia, carefully restored and renovated, that serves as the focal point and design inspiration for the luxury lodging and amenities that are rising around it. In the case of Las Piedras, that includes 38 luxury villas with full hotel services and 30 exclusive chacras situated on 7-12 acre lots.
For guests who want to explore nearby Jose Ignacio, La Barra and the costa uruguaya, they have access to two Mini Coopers and two Mercedes SUVs. The villas and estancias were designed by accomplished Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld, and the future golf course will be designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer. Orlando-based Arnold Palmer Design made the announcement last week regarding future projects in both Uruguay and Brazil.
In summing up his reason for choosing Punta del Este for the first Hotel Fasano project outside of Brazil, Rogerio Fasano told HostNews, “From the first time I came to Punta del Este, I was fascinated with this place. It’s one of the most beautiful places I have seen in my life.” We couldn’t agree more. (Full Story in Spanish)
